Club Kit Order
The test ride will be this Sunday, starting at 10am from the car park next to the Tourist Info office and public loos (just on your right after you cross the river bridge in the middle of Builth - you will have to go round the one way system to get into it though). They charge £2.20 for the day, so you may want to park on road side somewhere - oh, and it also has a height restriction so beware roof racks!
The idea will be to take a few photos, check the route out for road works etc, and have a good ride at the same time. Will be a slightly cut down version (80-85 mile maybe?) Continue reading ‘Devil Ride sportive - test ride 20th July’
With lots of people on summer jollies, taking part in sportives, or maybe even racing, and with the shop being flat out we have been struggling to fit our regular social rides in. Which is a BIG pity! Although we have been meeting up regularly at sportives, TTs etc. When things have calmed down a bit the plan is to have shop staff taking turns leading the rides every few weeks - so watch out for Simon’s turn
But in the meantime if anyone fancies coming over to the Barn and leading a bunch out into the lanes for a steady spin please go ahead! Just post a comment below and we’ll publicise it on the shop site too - even better if you can plot the route in MapMyRide, as we’ll post that up as well.
Looking forward to this on Sunday - especially if someone else knows the route! I don’t like following written instructions out on the bike, so will happily follow anyone who knows where they are going… A few of us are planning to make this a bit of a family outing at a truly steady pace - but when shall we meet up/set off? I am easy as it is sooooo simple to get to from our place ![]()
Chris is too lazy to sign in himself…and has a mac…so I’ll be postig this for the poor boy…
If you only ever do one time trial in your life it should be this one :-) 17 miles round the Elan Valley, followed by a nosh up at Clive Powell’s place. Great atmosphere and the BEST TT course around.
Si, Paul, Linc, Chris and I wll be there - anyone else?
Phil.
Last week it was a meet up outside the entrance to the Park and Ride in Ludlow (next to Sheet Island on the A49) at 7pm…this week?
Social Ride - 17th May
Next social ride starts from Epic Cycles at 10am (for coffee) on Saturday 17th. Matt will be leading the ride, which is around 35-40 miles, with tea and coffee back at the shop afterwards. Details are on the Epic Cycles Social Rides page.
More sportives anyone?
So, after the runaway success of the Forest of Dean outing - where next? Chris and I fancy the Gran Fondo Cymru on 25th May, if we can fit it in our family diaries, but you need to be quick to enter as it closes on 16th May. Other local-ish events in the next couple of months include the Iron Mountain on 21st June and Wyre Forest Stinger on 6th July. Anyone doing any of these or planning to do any others in the next few weeks?
Update: As sportives are proving such a hit with club folks I have added a permanent page listing events people are attending or thinking about - see “sportive outings” on the menu bar under the banner at the top of the site…
The FOD is this Sunday, with sign on from 7am in Chippenham Fields in Monmouth. We have a big group of riders meeting up at the start - aiming to get going around 8.30am. Please come and join up with us - whether you are a club member or not. We will be pretty obvious in the Epic Cycles kit…
Welcome
Welcome to the blogsite of Epic Cycles Road Club. As we have only just formed as a club there isn’t a lot to see just yet, so please write a post!!
It is easy to do - all you need is a WordPress account and you are up and running. Takes a minute (if that) - no junk email will be kicked off and no private details will be asked for. Once you have opened an account please send us your email address using the Contact Us page and we’ll add you as a contributor.
All types of posting would be appreciated - ride stories, planned rides and socials, races you have entered, articles you have read, requetsts for a ride buddy, advice given or wanted…anything!
Epic Cycles RC is based at Epic Cycles shop, but isn’t exclusive in any way - it grew out of informal rides from the shop, so everyone is welcome.
