2009 Goals?

Ok, so the year is drawing to a close and the shop is already full of riders talking about next year’s big events…not surprising as it is only 12 measly weeks until Spring starts
So we thought a thread on everyone’s goals would be a nice idea, especially as it might give others ideas and identify some early opportunities for a team outing or two!

Fitness Testing and Evaluation – booking now!

The date of the first session will be Tuesday 20th January.  The all day session will consist of individual testing of all the key numbers, with blood and gas analysis, power measurements and assessment of training needs etc.  The group structure of the day will be much more fun than on-on-one, will give the chance to share the experience, information and training discussions with team mates, and be cheaper than a one-on-one session – cost is just £85  per head, including lunch, documentation, Torq samples etc.  The first day is limited to 5 places, and will run from breakfast time until around 4pm.  If there is enough demand (and we think there will be!) we will set up another day a couple of weeks later.

Reliability rides ‘09

I’ve pulled together a few of the local reliability rides, see list below. I’m sure they will be added to the new notice board within the shop.

11/1/09 VC Sevale from Malvern (did this one last year, enjoyable) loop of Bredon Hill

18/1/09 Cyclesport Midlands from Worcester (out to Tenbury and back) wind made this one a toughie in ‘08. Nothing to do with sprouts !!

8/2/08 Ludlow CC, from Ludlow Leisure Centre – great traffic free lumpy routes

15/2/09 Wyre Forest from Stourport (out to Leominster and back via Tenbury) another good one

22/2/09 Climb on bikes, from Hereford. Not done this one but another local one to support

Weather permitting, it will be great to see a few Epic jersey’s at a few of these rides

Christmas Ride – 27th December

Just a quick link to the route for the social ride on 27th – meeting at the shop at 10am (which will open up for loos, tea etc) – this is the full route for Saturday, but depending on how we feel we can shorten it to 35 miles by taking a shortcut between Orleton and Luston…Route Map

Free on Feb 7th?

I am not usually one for Audax (although they are a lot better if you have a Garmin), but this one is a bit special – big turnout as it has been going for years, and it is run by Beacon RRC who are the folks behind the excellent Jack Clements TT.  Undulating 123km route, with hot food available at start and included in entry fee at the end, and on-line entry at: Sunrise Express (link is now fixed!).  Costs £5.50 (or £7.50 if not a BC member).  I fancy it even if it clashes with a reliability ride as it is just organsed better with a good atmosphere, nice long-ish route and hot  food!  Anyone else?

The date is Saturday 14th March – and the route is slightly changed for 2009, with the full climb from Hopton making a return (but still avoiding Cleobury traffic jams, main roads etc)
